Eric Pugh
Associate Pastor: Missions / Family Ministries
Life Verse: Matthew 6:33 – “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these
thingswill be added unto you.”
Biography: I grew up in Evergreen, Alabama.
The opportunity came for me to serve in the US Navy for six years. During this time I was born
again - by the grace of God.
When I was discharged from the Navy in 1979, I was employed by TVA at the Browns Ferry Nuclear
Plant near Athens, Alabama for 26 years. In Athens I met my lovely wife, Susan McDow, and was married in 1980.
God blessed us with Erin, Christopher, Lauren, Mary Kathryn, and Jordan as our children over the next 10 years. In recent years, God has continued to enlarge our family with eleven amazing grandchildren!
While at First Baptist Athens, God called me to preach the gospel as He provided opportunity. I was licensed in 1983 by my home church. Under the mentorship of Dr. Fred Lackey, I learned to make disciples of Christ through evangelism and discipleship.
In 1988, we were invited to assist First Baptist Athens in establishing the mission church in Elkmont, Alabama, under the leadership of Pastor David Jones. During this ministry, we learned and grew in biblical truths related to family principles, missions, and the sanctity of human life. As God deepened these messages in our family, He broadened our borders of service and ministry.
The exciting journey of the Pugh family has brought us to retire early from TVA and serve the body of Christ at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church as Associate Pastor of Family Ministries & Missions. I was ordained in January 2006, and began full-time ministry in July of that year.
In this role, we get to minister to families through marital & family counseling, biblical training, and Lindsay Lane Christian Academy (private school and home school.)
Also, we thoroughly enjoy assisting and mobilizing LLBC members to go on mission with God - locally, nationally, and internationally – to serve others and share the gospel.
Our passion: To provide the opportunity to every person God brings across our path directly, or indirectly, the opportunity to hear of God’s love through Jesus Christ, and if they are receptive to this love gift of salvation, to grow spiritually in the grace and knowledge of Him - until we get to see Him face to face in eternity!
Favorite Pastime/Hobbies: Family fun, travel, and outdoors.
Deepest Concerns: Unsaved people headed for an eternity separated from God. Christians living discouraged and defeated lives. Abortion, abandonment, and abuse of unwanted children.
